My 3 Biggest Wake-Up Calls As A Student Internet Marketer

by Tracey on June 5, 2009

When I started out I was naive. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this but I was so naive I even got sucked into the $1 pyramid scam believing I had found my way to huge riches! Now, that was a long time ago, and the $1 pyramid scam no longer involves snail mail but instant paypal payments. I’m sure there are many people still falling for it today as I did 5 years ago …

because new students of IM are vulnerable …

Instead of having one instructor or tutor to guide and direct us, as we do in offline learning situations, we have literally hundreds to choose from, all teaching different methods and I’m afraid, may of them telling us different lies or at the very least withholding certain truths.

Here’s are the three biggest eye-openers I discovered on my journey.

Wake-Up Call #1 – Adsense Checks

You’ve probably come across the image of Shoemoney’s awe inspiring Adsense check. Seeing stuff like this, as a student of making money online, is inspirational.  We could be forgiven for thinking that if we create enough blogs and dedicate enough time to posting in them, someday we will earn simiar amount of money.

That’s how I had it figured and ever enthusiastic I gave it a shot.  After building several blogs and seeing only minimal amounts of money ticking up in adsense each day for tedious hours of work, I figured this wasn’t going to be as easy as it seemed.

It was quite some time before I realised that it was PPC Abritrage that was pumping up the adsense checks for pro’s like Schoemacker.

To get really huge adsense checks, you need send cheap traffic to your blogs and set up your sites in such as way that you gain high conversions on clicks for ads which pay out far more than it cost you send the visitors there in the first place.

Wake-Up Call #2 – Clickbank Earnings

Everybody knows the sales pages that can’t show you enough of what it is possible to earn and how easy it is to make a bazzillion dollars a day promoting clickbank products.

I’m sure there are people working quietly at their computer cashing in huge Clickbank checks but is it is really that easy to earn such massive profits or could they be faking it. I wonder …

It turns out that by using a simple piece of Javascript code, web pages become editable. Apply the code and start typing in any amount of money you want, and viola , you’re an instant super millionaire. Screengrab and paste in your website. You’re now a Guru and you’ve fooled everybody!

This must be one of the easiest ways to fool newcomers. It worked on me!

Wake-Up Call #2 – Make Money Starting With Nothing.

This is something that it took me a LONG time to wake up to. Like most people starting out in Internet Marketing I didn’t have a lot to spend. In fact, in the beginning I had NOTHING to spend and that is one of the biggest reasons why I struggled for so.

I believed I could do it ALL without having to spend money – Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!

Not matter how many headlines tell you that you can start out and build your empire from nothing. It is not ture. You will need to spend money to make money.  Sure you can get by with a few dollars for a domain name and hosting but to make serious money you need to be able expand beyond that, pay for ads, outsource, buy quality learning products.
